Overview
We are seeking applications for the role of Marketing and Development Officer for our newly redeveloped state of the art theatre, cinema, and live music venue in Macroom. The ideal candidate for this role will be highly self-motivated, with an aptitude for creative collaboration, and an enthusiasm for joining our new team as we set about creating a brand new arts centre in the heart of County Cork.

Reporting directly to the Operations and Finance Manager, they will work closely with the Operations and Finance Manager and the Artistic Director to oversee the marketing and development functions of Briery Gap, ensuring the centre’s activities are effectively promoted and identifying opportunities for growth.

As Briery Gap is in a rebuilding phase, with a proposed opening date in September 2024, this role may evolve as further needs of the company are identified. Job Functions

Marketing

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans to promote Briery Gap’s upcoming events and activities
  • Provide assistance with relevant presentations and proposals when required.
  • Responsible for all digital marketing, including social media, email campaigns, website content, and online advertising.
  • Create written, photographic and video content for use across social media and our website.
  • Create compelling marketing materials, including brochures, posters, press releases, and newsletters.
  • Conduct market research to identify target audiences and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategies.
  • Foster relationships with media outlets, community partners, and influencers to enhance Briery Gap’s public profile.
  • Plan and coordinate promotional events and community outreach activities.
  • Create a monthly newsletter to communicate upcoming events and opportunities.
  • Liaise with artists and creative partners on marketing materials
  • Liaise with the Operations and Finance Manager on marketing budgets and managing campaigns as appropriate.

Development

  • Identify, research, and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, donations, and fundraising events.
  • Assist the Artistic Director and Operations and Finance Manager to prepare and submit grant applications to various funding bodies and assist in drafting reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinate fundraising campaigns and special events to support Briery Gap’s mission and programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of contributions and donor interactions.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of events and programming.
  • Devise and implement feedback processes for patrons and groups relating to user experience, facilities, technical, customer service and costs of using the theatre.
  • Assist in developing a patron loyalty programme.

Administration

  • Collaborate with the Operations and Finance Manager, the Artistic Director, and other team members to align marketing and development strategies with organisational goals.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on marketing and fundraising activities, progress, and outcomes.
  • Manage the marketing and development budget, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Collaborate with the team on theatre subscription concepts and delivery.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, best practices, and new opportunities in arts marketing and fundraising.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Extensive experience in social media platforms and digital marketing
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills with ability to actively engage with people
  • Excellent IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft suite.
  • Proficient with website content management systems.
  • Experience with gathering audience feedback and generating effective marketing campaigns.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work independently and an intuition for great content

Desirable, But Not Essential

  • Third-level qualification in a related subject
  • Proficient in Ticketsolve or similar
  • Background in graphic design
  • Background in Videography
  • Creativity and a keen eye for design
  • A passion for social media
  • Experience of working in the arts industry.
